About Us
"Driven By Heritage"
Heritage Traction Preservation is led by a small, dedicated team of railway professionals and enthusiasts committed to safeguarding Britain’s railway heritage.
Founded and chaired by Pip, the organisation is supported by trustees and volunteers with experience across both the mainline railway and heritage sectors. Together, the team oversees the ownership, restoration, and long-term care of preserved rolling stock, ensuring everything we do is responsible, sustainable, and focused on preservation.
Although modest in size, the team works closely with partner railways and supporters to protect traction that may otherwise be lost, helping to preserve it for future generations.

Our Story
Heritage Traction Preservation was founded to safeguard and maintain railway assets and traction that may otherwise be lost following withdrawal from service. Established by Pip Jones, the group exists to ensure historically significant vehicles and equipment continue to be properly cared for and used within the heritage railway sector.
Our focus is practical, long-term preservation. This includes restoration, ongoing maintenance, and supporting operational use where appropriate. We work with heritage railways and partner organisations to place assets in stable environments where they can be maintained, demonstrated, and enjoyed by future generations.
All rolling stock and equipment is managed with a clear emphasis on responsibility, sustainability, and forward planning. Our aim is to create lasting preservation outcomes that keep railway history active, relevant, and accessible.
